Blending physical & digital in a truly magical setting
Muzeum Susch is an ambitious art institution founded by Polish billionaire, Grażyna Kulczyk. The museum is located in the valley of the river Inn, amongst the remnants of a medieval monastery and set against the backdrop of alpine mountains, MUZEUM SUSCH opened its doors to the public on January 2nd, 2019. It serves as a new addition to the matrix of experimentation and innovative approaches to art, in response to the enchanting surroundings of Engadin.
The former vicarage, hospice, and economic building were once part of a rural monastery founded in 1157 after Flüela Pass on the pilgrim's route to Rome and Santiago de Compostela. In the 19th century, a brewery building was added, located above a naturally-occurring mountain water source. To house MUZEUM SUSCH, the existing structures were subtly restored and recombined in a complex form, providing an inspiring environment for artistic production and engagement. The diverse ensemble invites visitors to embark on exploratory journeys and offers spaces for exhibitions, experimental presentations, performances, conferences, lectures, events, and an interdisciplinary residency program.

Our main responsibility while working on the Muzeum Susch App was to create a tool which enriches the visitor experience by providing access to unique content related to the museum's permanent and temporary exhibitions, provides up-to-date information about events, grants access to interactive digital tours and helps in navigating in a complex, historical environment.

Our assignment included several on-site visits to understand the gallery complex and medieval architecture, and implementing robust technology including a complex BLE indoor and outdoor beacon installation to deliver the most compelling experience for visitors.
The entire beacon installation was meticulously documented to ensure that both management - through a bespoke CMS - and maintenance - including battery & connectivity status monitoring - are as easy and convenient as possible.

Immersive and intuitive, responding directly to a user's location, the app offers immediate in-depth information on displayed artworks and exhibited artists.
The application supports multiple languages and works in a remote, offline environment, with content synchronizing seamlessly whenever convenient.
