Part of the LVMH group. Founded in 2010, NOWNESS is a digital video channel which premieres the best in global arts and culture that inspires and influences art, design, fashion, beauty, music, culture and food.

We were asked to build a brand-new version of NOWNESS.com. Having a clear vision of the product, we architectured and recommended the most optimal tech stack, developed the product, performed the data migrations and launched the platform worldwide, including in China.

The NOWNESS platform's aesthetically pleasing design hides the highly sophisticated technologies implemented both on the frontend and the backend. It wasn't easy to combine everything into one platform which is not only user-friendly, but also admin-friendly. Everything was custom-built, from the ground up.

Single Page App

The challenge here was to provide a smooth user experience despite vast amounts of banwidth-hungry content. We decided to go for a novel SPA approach - one of the first large-scale rollouts worldwide - as an efficient and bleeding-edge solution. That generated many other challenges, for example SEO, but that's another story! It was definitely worth it!

Dynamic Content

NOWNESS is about delivering high-end content, the presentation of which requires a tailored approach. That's why the website is built in a highly modular way - almost all modules can be managed with a single click, not affecting the user UX harmony. Plus, many special features like site takeover - changing the look of the website within seconds, custom and dynamic email templates and many more.

CMS

Having read the client's expectations we had no choice but to build a custom CMS from scratch. The goal was to have "everything possible" and have it in one place to make the daily work with the site as efficient as possible. That is why our CMS includes modular content management (with different content for China), a dynamic newsletter generator, social media management, site takeover and much more.

There is a variety of service providers that we love to utilize in our work. In case of NOWNESS, the stack is complex and combines many services incuding: Heroku, Amazon (S3, EC2, Lambda and others), Akamai, Brightcove, Mailchimp and many more.
